Palm Lake golf

A chilly and very breezy morning for our September 21 monthly medal and it must be school holidays as John Grant graced us with his presence. It was also good to welcome a visitor Phil Smith brought along by Tony Turner.

Phil let Tony beat him today but reckons he’ll be back this week to turn the tables.

Phil you’re not the only one to let Tony beat you, as he beat everyone on the day to take out the medal with a nett 34.5. Peter Jarman ran a close second with a nett 35 while Steve Dorrell filled third place with 36.5.

In the putting stakes Peter Jarman started very poorly with a 3-putt green but recovered to return 15 putts for the nine holes and win the day.

NTP’s saw Keith Britton win on the 10th with a great iron shot which faded in on the breeze to end reasonably close for his first and left his second so close to the hole it was difficult to place a marker on the green. The 12th has become the Bob Oddy hole. Although there is no trophy for dominance, if there was one, he would be a shoe in, as he has won the NTP here so often recently and he did it again today. On the long 17th John Grant showed us that he has not lost his touch and won the hole with a close second shot.

Let’s hope that spring temperatures arrive very soon to make our golf all that much more enjoyable on Tuesday mornings. If there are any golfers out there wanting a social game, simply be at the course ready to play by 7.30am and we’ll fit you into our group.
