We have had a wonderful time celebrating learning across our school during the last couple of weeks. I hope that your children have been coming home keen to talk with you about all of their experiences. Kicking off these events was Science Week. It was fantastic to see our senior classes running science activities for our Junior School students. The energy and excitement as they raced and tested their own rocket designs was very contagious. I would like to thank Mr Standard and Mr Stubbs for working with the junior school staff to inspire so many of our students about the amazing learning that is captured by Science.
This was then followed by Book Week. The privilege of reading and getting captured by stories and imagination is such a beautiful gift. A host of visiting readers spent time across the classes reading their funny and serious, happy and challenging, exciting and amazing stories. It all culminated with a parade that showcased magnificent creativity and ingenuity from our students and their families.
I am excited to announce that last week our new school website went live on the internet. There has been a huge team effort occurring across our group of schools, I would particularly like to thank Rob Lawler, Anthony Gerke and Eve Krahe for working with Mrs West and Mrs Taylor to fine tune and complete all the editing of the material. We are looking forward to our online presence strengthening access to information for our families about what is happening, and what we are celebrating, across our learning community.
As I mentioned in our last newsletter our senior school students have a number of assessment tasks that they should be working on and submitting before the end of the term. If they are finding the tasks challenging, please encourage them to speak with their teachers who are very willing to offer support and assistance. Please continue to pray for our Stage 6 students as they complete their trial exams and prepare for the final HSC exams next term.
This week there are several events occurring. The first is our next open day on this Wednesday when families can come in between 9:30 and 10:30 for a tour of the school. This is followed on Thursday by our Term 3 orientation day for Year 7 students and then an information evening commencing at 6pm for parents. We are also looking forward to our mission week activities in Week 8, please take time to look over the program later in the newsletter. I am hoping to see many of our families join us for the evening events as we celebrate community together. If you have any questions about upcoming events, please do not hesitate to contact the office.
God Bless Dave Johnston
