Osprey RSL Day Club on the move

Lynne Mowbray | After 17 years, the Osprey RSL Day Club in Yamba is on the move. The clubs relocating from the RSL Hall in Yamba to the Riverboat Restaurant room at Bowlo Sports and Leisure Yamba, due to financial reasons. Osprey RSL Day Club Yamba co-ordinator Judy Patterson said that the Club is providing a room for them to use for free. “We will be able to provide more activities for the members including gentle exercises, quizzes and games,” Ms Patterson said. “It will also come in handy for the entertainers and guest speakers, which we have occasionally. “Morning tea and lunch is provided for a small fee and transport (in the Yamba area), is available. “The Day Club is held every Friday between 10am and 2pm and we usually average around 35 attending (including volunteers) each week. “We’d like to encourage new members and more volunteers to come along. “Members and volunteers can be any age, but they have to be a member of the Bowling Club. “There are so many people out there with such amazing stories to tell especially of the war and it’s great for them to be able to tell their stories and share their experiences. “Not everyone may want to be actively involved, but we give them the opportunity to get involved if they want to. “The first meeting at the new venue will take place next Friday morning, 11 May which will be just before Mother’s Day and we will have a gift for every mother attending,” she said.
