Osprey RSL Day Club – great to be back

It was really nice to see you all back bright-eyed and bushy-tailed last Friday.

My goodness we can talk. What a joy to be able to have a good old chat and catch up on the gossip. My table was right into “Married At First Sight” which started two weeks ago, and they can’t wait for the next episode…memories! Television certainly isn’t what it used to be.

It was a bit of a slow start last week as we got into stride again, but it did highlight the importance of everyone being on time. It is imperative we are in as close to 9.30am as possible so that we can relay our attendance numbers to the kitchen by 9.45am. If you are going to be late, just ring Leanne and she will include you in the numbers for the day, otherwise you will not get lunch. I am sure you will agree that the profiteroles for morning tea, and the fish, chips and salad for lunch were excellent. Not too big, not too small but just right.

After morning tea, we did a very gentle exercise program to get those bodies moving again. Even the music clapped out before we did, so I will have to investigate and perhaps find another soothing CD.

Our mastermind Nigel prepared a really good general knowledge quiz to test the grey matter. We used many books over the years to provide the quiz each week, but we have exhausted those books and you weren’t being challenged. So, Nigel, who has had a great deal of experience at this sort of thing, and who is also a mine of information, accepted the job of being the Quiz Master. They will get harder; you will be tested, and you will earn your chocolate reward.

Bingo was fun but I couldn’t take a trick. However, I was lucky enough to win a Free Day in the raffle draw. David G also opted for a Free Day, Marie won the lucky door and chose the wine. And Edna won the Pick-a-Box prize which contained a very handy $20 Coles voucher. It is amazing how many times a new member wins a prize on the first day.

It was really nice to welcome Edna to Osprey on Friday, and she assured me she had a lovely day and that she will be back this week. We missed our members from Caroona, but they had a hiccup in procedures which I am hoping will be rectified next week. All in all, our numbers were very pleasing indeed.
