Osprey RSL Day Club

Good morning one and all. Wasn’t it a fun day on Friday with our pre-Easter eggathon…. I just made that word up…. and it sure fits. I have to give it to you all for getting into the spirit of things with bunny ears and Easter bonnets.

There were so many ears that we when we asked for a show of hands for attendance on Anzac Day that it was difficult to count. It reminded me of an incident many years ago when a man gave me two beautiful MALE white rabbits. He lied. Suddenly the burrow in our aviary had lots of little pink and white ears peeping out!

Elaine won the best ladies bonnet with a very clever creation. I do have a lovely picture of her and Terry, but my camera (or it could be the operator), is not performing. Brian proudly strolled in balancing a huge handheld hat and did a lap of honour. You had to see it to believe it. Brian’s son created it for his daughter’s school hat parade. It was about two foot high; comprised an open egg full of little eggs that lit up when activated, on top of that was a cute bunny bucket tipping eggs everywhere. Hard to explain, but ingenious. Thanks for sharing. Brian’s granddaughter also won first prize. What a good daddy she has.

The egg and spoon race was fun too. A wee bit of skullduggery going on, a shoulder charge here, and a trip there (those walking sticks with the curved handle were handy), thank heaven the eggs bounced. I noticed those racing with wheelie walkers were pretty competitive too. Good sports all round. I wished I had videoed the antics.

Now to serious stuff. YES, we are meeting on Anzac Day as per normal. We urge you wear your family medals, and to share with us any memorabilia you may have, or to speak of your experiences after our service. Tom will conduct a small service to honour our past and present armed forces. We will have a small display area available on the stage, and if you would like to place photos, or flowers, please do. If you would like to bring a friend along, who would not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in any Anzac Day, please do. It’s a sad day to be alone. They will be required to pay of course, and numbers must be to Club staff by 9.45am on Friday. Any queries ring Bev 0428 117 959.

Happy Easter everyone. That’s all folks.
