Osprey RSL Day Club

Hi everyone. I do not know about you, but I seem to have been running flat out for weeks trying to keep one step ahead of the mould, my poor garden, the normal chores and chasing tradies.

Not to mention doctors’ appointments and flu shots; the list goes on. And Fridays seem to come around so quickly too, and that is probably a good thing.

Last Friday we welcomed Edie to the fold, and I know for a fact she had a lovely day. I had the pleasure of helping her to play Rummikub which she had not played for many years. But, just like riding a bicycle, it all came back to her after a few games; she even won a game. Good stuff Edie. It is so important that we long time members remember to ease newcomers into the games and help them settle in. It can be a scary thing embracing forty or so new faces, a new environment and the unexpected. So be kind.

Pat prepared the tables with big black cats with wobbly eyes to acknowledge Friday 13 and add to the atmosphere. I never cease to be amazed at the items she has stored in that crafty little work room of hers. It is a right treasure trove. Thanks again Pat.

The raffle winners: Joan (sweet and savoury prize), Flo and Daphne (free day) each and Bev M the (pick-a-box) prize.

I will be away again next week so you can enjoy the thought all week that you will not have to do boring old exercises that actually keep you moving. Wasn’t Lyn a trooper last week? It brought tears to my eyes to see her stand from her wheelchair and join in the exercises. It took enormous courage and strength to achieve that, and my hat goes off to you Lyn.
