The community has spoken – the days Iluka Library is open is about to change.
From next week Iluka Library will be open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
The change is in response to overwhelming community support demonstrated in the recent survey asking Iluka Library users what they wanted.
“In the survey we asked the community how they felt about changing the opening hours at Iluka Library from Monday, Wednesday & Friday to consecutive days from Wednesday, Thursday & Friday,” Regional Librarian Kathryn Breward said.
“We had 124 responses to the survey and only three opposed the change, so we’re confident this is what the community wants,” Mrs Breward said.

- Thursday 10am – 12:30pm & 1:30pm – 5pm
- Friday 10am – 12:30pm & 1:30pm – 5pm
- Saturday CLOSED
- Sunday CLOSED
Iluka Library Officer, Tracy Sowell, said she had a lot of different community groups asking to open the library on Thursdays.
“I’ve had requests from book clubs, high school students and members of the community requesting the library open on Thursdays so this change is really going to suit those members,” Mrs Sowell said.
“It’s also going to be a lot easier for people to remember when we’re open now that it’s three days in a row.”
The lunchtime closure is also changing, bringing Iluka Library in line with Yamba and Maclean libraries.
