Ed,
In response to letters from YambaCAN to the elected representatives in both State and Federal electorates as well as to Council and Councillors, one Councillor responded by pointing out that the internet access was as fine in Angourie, Wooloweyah and the coastal walk in Yuragir National Park (or at least as good as in Yamba), which was NOT the subject of the YambaCAN letter. Internet to these places is carried by NBN in cables while mobile phone is transmitted through the ether from towers.
That same Councillor advised YambaCAN that the only way that the matter could be taken to the Minister was for an elected councillor to raise a “Notice of Motion”. What surprised me about this response was not that this was necessary but that the Councillor didn’t offer to do this as a service to all of the CVC constituents or that there was not an IMMEDIATE response from Council Staff to this health and safety concern.
If one takes notice of letters to the editor of your fine publication, it seems that Lawrence is also in need of an approach to the Minister to get guaranteed coverage.
Both of the elected representatives have taken notice of the YambaCAN letter and have made approaches to the Minister. Will a Notice of Motion be forthcoming from the Councillor who responded? One can only hope so!
