The Championships were played at Raymond Terrace, with the U15’s on Tuesday and Wednesday October 2-3 and the U18’s on Wednesday and Thursday October 4-5. In the U15 Country Championships, the North Coast played some fantastic cricket, displaying some very special moments. Coming away with two wins on the first day (one against Riverina and then the CNSW Cavaliers); North Coast put them into a great position leading into day two. Unfortunately a loss to Central North put the North Coast into the play off for a third spot finish. A convincing win saw the North Coast do so without faltering. Clarence Valley girls Taquayla Dawson and Verity McDonald both put in good performances for the North Coast. North Coast won their fifth consecutive title at the U18 Country Championships. Facing up against the Illawarra in the final, Clarence Valley girls Alyssa Luland and Anika Learoyd both played crucial roles to help North Coast establish a score of 5/89 after their 20 overs. Grafton’s Ellynie Cameron produced exceptional cricket throughout the two days and did not disappoint in the final, walking away with figures of 2/13 after her four overs. Anika again starring as the game came right down to the wire with Illawarra needing six runs off the final over. Anika bowled the final over picking up a matching winning wicket to see the North Coast win by two runs.
