NSW town ranks #1 in the country for infidelity

Ashley Madison releases the top 20 Australian cities for summertime infidelity.

After a tough winter with a return to lockdown for much of the country, Australia is approaching brighter days – literally. With the warmer months around the corner and COVID restrictions gradually easing, Australia is now entering their own “hot vax summer” and cheaters are leading the way.

Ashley Madison, the world’s leading married dating site,[1] has released the top 20 Australian cities for summertime infidelity, a successor to July’s Winter of Sex Index. The company’s learned within the past two years that lockdown has been a catalyst for infidelity, namely online while people have been stuck at home with their spouse. Now that things are turning around down under, it’s time to hit the sheets.

This season, cheaters should look to Coffs Harbour for the ultimate extramarital excursion, or to cities quickly making their way up the ranks like Gold Coast and Ballarat. The full top 20 list below is based on last summer’s signups and each city is ranked per capita.

Sex and All the Cities:*

  1. Coffs Harbour, NSW
  2. Mackay, QLD
  3. Rockhampton, QLD
  4. Canberra, ACT
  5. Albury, NSW
  6. Cairns, QLD
  7. Gold Coast, QLD
  8. Toowoomba, QLD
  9. Ballarat, VIC
  10. Bundaberg, QLD
  11. Townsville, QLD
  12. Sunshine Coast, QLD
  13. Bunbury, WA
  14. Newcastle, NSW
  15. Wollongong, NSW
  16. Darwin, NT
  17. Brisbane, QLD
  18. Hobart, TAS
  19. Adelaide, SA
  20. Perth, WA

Queensland may still lead the country with nine cities on the list, but New South Wales’ Coffs Harbour has taken the #1 spot from Rockhampton this summer, sitting on top for the first time since 2019. Looks like the city has more than just one big banana to enjoy.

Apart from Bunbury and the latter four cities, there has been some shuffling since the winter months. Most notably, Gold Coast jumped four spots to enter the top 10, and Canberra has added some diversity to the QLD- and NSW-led top five.

“Australia has had some of the longest, strictest COVID lockdowns in the world and there’s finally light at the end of the tunnel now,” says Isabella Mise, Ashley Madison’s Senior Director of Communications. “What better way to kick off the summer with a bang than by indulging in one of these sexy hot spots?”
