NSW LIBERAL AND NATIONALS GOVERNMENT BACKS CARAVAN AND CAMPING PITCH TO SUPPORT REGIONS

Travellers will be encouraged to embrace caravan and camping across regional NSW to support local visitor economies in a new campaign from next month.

The NSW Liberal and Nationals Government is partnering with the Caravan and Camping Industry Association (CCIA) NSW with a joint $500,000 investment to extend its Feel More. Live More campaign in a bid to attract visitors to regional NSW.

The six-week campaign will span TV and digital, including editorial content that highlights holiday parks that were affected by floods in recent months which are open and warmly welcoming visitors.

Minister for Tourism Ben Franklin said holiday parks across the State had shown great resilience in challenging times and were strong contributors to the NSW visitor economy.

“In 2021, caravan and camping holidays accounted for 13 million visitor nights for NSW, injecting more than $2.1 billion into the State’s economy,” Mr Franklin said.

“The Caravan and Camping Industry Association NSW represents more than 700 businesses state-wide, which speaks to the popularity of caravanning and camping and the critical role it plays for our visitor economy.

“The NSW Liberal and Nationals Government is proud to partner with CCIA NSW to promote these refreshing and unique experiences to future visitors, which will support local businesses and tourism operators right across NSW.

“From the coast to the country, holiday parks provide visitors with the opportunity to connect with our spectacular landscape, the community and support local businesses by eating, drinking and shopping in the region.”

The campaign, supported by Destination NSW on behalf of the NSW Government, will run in Sydney, northern NSW, southern NSW, the Gold Coast, the ACT and regional Victoria from Sunday 12 March 2023.

CCIA NSW CEO Lyndel Gray said the appetite for caravan and camping experiences remained strong.

“There were more than 3.5 million caravan or camping trips taken in NSW in 2021 which is no surprise when you consider the beauty, freedom and authenticity that this style of travel and accommodation offers,” Ms Gray said.

“It has been tough for a lot of operators over the last few months, but we’re ready to welcome visitors to our huge range of holiday parks around the State and help people to create memories that will last a lifetime.

“We hope bookings and visits will continue to grow steadily thanks to this powerful campaign partnership with the NSW Government.”
