The Richmond Valley has been announced as the location for the state’s next Regional Job Precinct, the second of four precincts which are part of the NSW Government’s bush-led recovery from drought, floods, bushfires and COVID-19. Deputy Premier John Barilaro said the Richmond Valley was a clear choice for a Regional Job Precinct, due to its strengths in agriculture, renewable energy and manufacturing sectors. “The NSW Government has a plan to help our regions recover by creating thousands of new jobs and we are rolling out Regional Job Precincts to drive investment in regional communities to make it easier for businesses to set up shop,” Mr Barilaro said. “A precinct in the Richmond Valley will help to diversify industries in the Casino area by identifying value-adding opportunities for existing sectors, and we will be working with Richmond Valley Council and local stakeholders to realise the prospects that are on the horizon.” Clarence Nationals MP Chris Gulaptis said he is thrilled that the Richmond Valley has been announced as the state’s second Regional Job Precinct and looks forward to welcoming the accelerated development opportunities. “This is great news for the Richmond Valley and presents an opportunity for the NSW Government to work with council to address current barriers to development,” Mr Gulaptis said. “The Regional Job Precinct will benefit industries like the Richmond Valley Industrial Estate which received $9.9 million from the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Package, as well as the associated manufacturing businesses that set up off the back of this investment. “Our region has a successful and proud history off the back of industry and now is the time to grow, expand and create opportunities for more investment on our doorstep.” Alongside Albury, which was announced as a precinct location in January, the Richmond Valley is the second of four precincts currently planned for regional NSW. Further locations for Regional Job Precincts will be announced in coming months.
