North Coast Tourism Symposium & Awards Gala Dinner 2021

The North Coast Tourism Symposium and Awards Gala Dinner will provide a very important opportunity to bring the tourism industry together after such a tumultuous period.

Joint-hosts Destination North Coast and Bellingen Shire Council invite visitor economy stakeholders, to the North Coast Tourism Symposium and Awards Gala Dinner being held on Thursday June 24, at the C.ex Club, Urunga.

Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said the NSW Government recognised the significant value that the regions provide to the State’s visitor economy and how tourism was the lifeblood of many regional communities.

“If COVID-19 has shown us anything, it’s that the NSW visitor economy is everyone’s business – it accounts for almost 300,000 jobs and 110,000 businesses and is integral to our States success,” Mr Ayres said.

“NSW is the largest visitor economy in Australia and with the recent launch of our Visitor Economy Strategy 2030, we’re working to rebuild and grow it to $65 billion by 2030 and deliver on our vision to become the premier visitor economy of the Asia-Pacific.

“We anticipate that regional visitation will be worth $25 billion to the State’s visitor economy by 2030, which is more than a third of the total projected visitor expenditure, demonstrating how crucial our regions are to the economic and social well-being of NSW.

“The knowledge gained at the Visitor Economy Symposium will future proof our visitor economy, ensuring that NSW continues to offer the best of the best for years to come,” Mr Ayres said.

Tourism Symposium

The theme of this year’s Tourism Symposium is ‘Future Forward’ and leading the line-up and opening the event is acclaimed entrepreneur and innovator Gus Balbontin. Gus will deliver a thought-provoking and energetic opener as he loves sharing a story and loves even more knowing those stories make a difference to people, helping them in their own business and life.

Joining Gus will be Regenerative Tourism expert Dianne Dredge from the Tourism CoLab and Steve Noakes, leader in eco and sustainable travel and Chairman of Binna Burra Lodge which presents as an amazing tale of regeneration and recovery.

Awards Gala Dinner

The Awards Gala Dinner immediately following the Tourism Symposium has been reimagined this year and will recognise and salute Local Tourism Heroes from across the region.

Michael Thurston, General Manager, Destination North Coast says: “The challenges to our industry and region since our last North Coast Tourism Symposium and Awards Ceremony mean it is more important than ever to gather in support, solidarity and to celebrate success.”

“With this in mind, Destination North Coast has sought to further subsidise the Early Bird/Combo Event ticket price, so it definitely pays to get in early and plan to attend both events,” he adds.
