Last week the NSW Combined High Schools Sports Association, boys secondary cricket was held in Grafton and was hosted by the North Coast Schools Sport Association. The championship brought 10 regional teams to compete over four days. The teams were from North Coast, Hunter, North West, Riverina, South Coast, Sydney East, Sydney North, Sydney South West, Sydney West and Western.
The local regional team North Coast put on an impressive display throughout the championship. Their first game was against South Coast. Unfortunately, the North Coast side were defeated in this game with South Coast achieving a score of 8/188 to North Coast 75.
On the second day North Coast had a narrow win over Sydney North. The final score was Sydney North 9/193 to North Coast 9/198. On the third day North Coast had a convincing win over Sydney South West. Sydney South West scored 127 while North Coast scored 5/168.
The final game for North Coast was against Sydney West. Sydney West were the victors in this game with a score of 9/241 to North Coast 102.
North Coast placed sixth overall in the championship. South Coast won overall and second went to Hunter. The player of the championships was Hugo Ikeda from the South Coast Association.
Mitchell Korn who played in the North Coast side was selected in NSW Combined High School Sports Association 1st’s side.
