NORPA is holding open auditions 13 & 14 May.

The region’s leading theatre company, NORPA, is holding open auditions for local performers from across the Northern Rivers.

The auditions are an opportunity to meet the NORPA team and showcase your skills and interests as a performer. NORPA welcomes performers from across different performance practices but are specifically looking for those who are comfortable working with text.

NORPA has a national and international reputation for making exciting, original Australian theatre works including Railway Wonderland staged on the Lismore Railway Station (2012, 2015), Dreamland staged in the Eureka Hall (2016) and Bangalow A&I Hall (2019), Djurra (2017), Wildskin (2018) and Fold: A Domestic Circus (2019) among many others. NORPA works are adventurous, collaborative and take inspiration from the country and stories of this area.

“This is a really exciting time for NORPA with a number of creative projects heading into development this year. We are looking for performers who are inventive and versatile. The cast help shape the work, generating content which comes from the stories and characters around us” says Julian Louis, NORPA Artistic Director and CEO.

Individual auditions will be held on Thursday May 13 at NORPA in Lismore. Each performer will need to prepare a performance piece no longer than 4 minutes in duration that includes some text/dialogue. This could be a monologue, a physical theatre piece with text or a short self-devised performance.

Following the individual audition, selected performers will be invited to a call back session on Friday 14 May. Two sessions will be available on Friday 14 May, either 3pm – 5pm or 6pm – 8pm.
