Night work continues on the Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway Upgrade

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Pacific Highway between Pimlico and Emigrant Creek this week for essential road resurfacing. Work to resurface the highway for about 1.7 kilometres will be carried out from 6pm to 6am until Friday, May 5, weather permitting. Traffic control and a reduced speed limit will be in place during work hours. The work aims to improve safety for motorists on the existing highway while the Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade progresses. Line marking will be carried out at the intersections of the Pacific Highway and Mororo Road at Mororo at night on Wednesday, May 3 and at the intersection of the Pacific Highway and Carrolls Lane on Chatsworth Island between Wednesday 3 and Saturday 6 May. Work will be carried out between 7pm and 6am at both locations to minimise delays for motorists. There will be an increase in heavy vehicles on Avenue Road at Lavadia from this week as machinery to the site compound is delivered. This will include oversized vehicles which will be escorted to site to ensure the safety of road users. There may be delays to travel during the delivery of the oversize vehicles. The Woolgoolga to Ballina project team will also be answering questions about the upgrade as part of the Roads and Maritime Services stand at the Maclean Show on Wednesday, May 3 and the Grafton Show on Friday and Saturday, May 5-6. This is a great opportunity for community members to get an update on work in their local area as the upgrade continues. For the safety of workers and motorists reduced speed limits and traffic control may be in place on the highway, local roads and access roads where haulage along the project route is taking place or deliveries to the project site are required. Delays of about five minutes can be expected at most locations and all work is carried out weather permitting. Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control. Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience while work on the upgrade is carried out.
