Wayne Jones is the Northern NSW Local Health District’s (NNSW LHD) new chief executive. Acting Secretary for Health, Elizabeth Koff, made the announcement on Tuesday May 5. The health district’s chair, Dr Brian Pezzutti, said Mr Jones had held a number of senior executive roles within the NNSW LHD, most recently the chief of staff. “Mr Jones brings his experience as a clinician – he has a number of nursing qualifications and broad clinical experience primarily in intensive care and cardiology nursing – combined with an extensive background in health management, service planning and commissioning,” Mr Pezzutti said. “In addition to his nursing qualifications, Mr Jones has a degree in health services management and is currently completing a course through the Australian Institute of Company Directors. “I would like to acknowledge Ms Annette Symes, executive director of nursing and midwifery, who has acted in the role of chief executive since January 2016. “Ms Symes, who has provided sound leadership during the past few months, will return to her role as executive director nursing and midwifery for NNSW LHD in mid-June 2016 following her return from leave.
