The Naval & Mariners Association of Australia, Clarence Valley Ships Company Inc will conduct their third Annual General Meeting, on Saturday August 3 on the back-deck of the Maclean Hotel to commence at 1100.
Reports of the president, treasurer and auditors will be tabled. Nominations for all positions, president, vice-president, hon/secretary, hon/treasurer and three general committee will be called from the floor of the meeting.
Our ships-company has had a profitable year from several quarters and the president John Bloom will outline these at the meeting. Anzac Day was successful with members & supporters marching behind our banner. Our continuing endeavors to have a smaller unit of the Royal Australian Navy visit Maclean is on hold at the moment due to problems with entering the Clarence, we are presently in discussions with the Navy on the matter.
A proposed Navy bowls day at either Maclean or Brooms Head is being pursued and no doubt one of these clubs will accommodate us. We are in need of more members to join the association, annual fee $10, and being a stand-alone incorporated association we have no capitation costs to state or federal HQ. The members control the group through the constitution and members set the annual fee each year at the AGM.
We invite all ex-sailors & officers, RAN, RNZN, RN, RCN & allied navies who qualify to join our ranks and officers and sailors who have or are serving in the Australian Merchant Navy or Allied Merchant Navies.
