Between July 7-14, communities across Australia will come together for NAIDOC (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) Week, an annual celebration which recognises the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
First held in the 1970s, NAIDOC Week provides an opportunity for all Australians to learn about the proud heritage of First Nations cultures.
This year, the theme for NAIDOC Week is ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud, and Proud’, which honours the enduring strength and connection to country shared and celebrated by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
