There is plenty happening at the Port of Yamba Yacht Club, both on and off the water. We are excited to announce an intimate evening of live music with Martin Lartigo on Saturday, April 26, from 6pm to 11pm.

Originally from Basque Country in France, Martin is a self-taught neo-flamenco and fingerstyle guitarist, living a travelling life and using music as his tool. His unique blend of contemporary flamenco, fingerstyle, and looping sound effects creates an entrancing performance that is not to be missed.

On the Water: A Close-Fought Race

Last Wednesday’s race showcased some fantastic competition, with just 13 minutes separating first and last place on adjusted times. The light winds and outgoing tide required skill and patience, with every small move making a difference. 

Results: first place – Sure Thing (A clean bottom helped speed things up, thanks to Stu diving under to clean it himself); second – Triton (also running well after a fresh haul-out); third – No Nathanial; fourth – Pintado; fifth – Pacioli; sixth – Valhalla.

Sure Thing came from the back of the fleet to take the win, showing that persistence and good preparation pay off.

The club welcomes new participants, whether as crew or boat owners. Sail passes are available, allowing people to try sailing before committing to membership. Memberships are also available pro rata, so you do not need to pay for a full year if joining mid-season.

What’s on at PYYC

• Friday Night Bar – Open every Friday from 5pm, with the best sunset views over the marina
• Potluck Dinner – Held on the first Sunday of every month, a great way to meet fellow members and enjoy a relaxed evening at the club
