Monica Parker and Helen Atkinson take Yamba Club Pairs

The 2021 Club Pairs competition was finalised today with our new titleholders being Monica Parker and Helen Atkinson.

It was a field of talent with the opposition being Julie Coulter and Julie Beaumont and spectators expected and were treated to a good game with many canny shots played. But it was Monica and Helen who dominated throughout the game going on to a comfortable 17 – 8 win. Congratulations to all players on their performances and many thanks to the umpires and officials for their time throughout the competition. 

Alongside the Pairs final, 26 bowlers enjoyed the mixed social Tuesday with the winning team being M. McBey, B. Backshall, S. Butler who defeated L. McLean, M. Wall, T. Allen with a 2 shot win. Runners-up were P. McKenna, M. Sakac, L. Hardingham d A. Marr, M. Stone, G. Davis with just one shot dividing them.

Consolation went to J. McGovern, L. Duncan defeated by P. Glover, R. Moore. And S. Lindsay, M.  Jenner had a resounding defeat over V. Terry, J. Pryor. In the other game G. Freeman, J. Farrar, C. Ritale d M. Abbott, J. Madden, B. Andrews.

Thursday September 30

Dodgy weather caused the cancellation of social bowls today, but we were able to stage the first round of the Club Triples in relatively OK weather.

It was a very close one between M. Stone, G. Davis, M. Abbott with a one-shot win over C. Cole, H. Atkinson, C. Ritale 19 – 18. Julie Beaumont’s team of J. Scadden, L. Duncan d B. Backshall, J. Madden, R. Moore and Wendy Ballantyne’s team comprising J. Coulter and K. Mason d Val Terry’s team of P. Chilcott and S. Lindsay.

The game between Cathryn Aitchison’s and Marianne Jenner’s teams was deferred to Tuesday October 5. Then it is on to the semi-finals on Thursday October 7.

Remember, sheets are on the ladies’ board for Shirley Drum’s birthday lunch on Tuesday October 12 and also for the Charity Day on Thursday November 4.

Also, bowlers new and old, get your names down for the Shirley Drum Triples Challenge – should be a great day – it will be a box draw and the format is 2-bowl Triples four games of 10 ends, with three games played before the sausage sizzle lunch and the final game after lunch. Should be great fun – $10 entry fee can be made at the cash box, – after receiving your receipt please put your name and receipt number on the sheet on the ladies’ board. Entries close Tuesday October 26 – draw will take place after bowls. Prizemoney will be allocated at Presentation Night on Thursday December 2.

Christmas party drawing near – Tuesday December 7 – gifts for the hamper would be much appreciated.
