As he looked out over the Sportsmans Creek floodplain, Lawrence resident John Ibbotson snapped this pic of the moon setting on Wednesday May 26.
“I was outside, I normally get up between five and 5.30am, and I saw a bright ball, the moon; and it just happened to be going down between two trees,” he said.
Mr Ibbotson said he thought the seemingly backlit glow “was because there was just the right amount of fog to diffract the moon’s light without blocking it out”.
