Mike Macqueen Memorial Shootout – Round 1

With an earlier deadline than usual due to the October long weekend, this week’s results only relate to last Wednesday’s round which was the 1st Round of the much-anticipated Mike Macqueen Memorial Shootout. A field of 38 pairs contested the 2BBB Stroke format, including our newest lady member Kate Gibson, and results couldn’t have been closer.

Results

While Leigh Robertson and Carrie Aitken (63) were the nett winners, there were a number of pairs who sat right on their heels. All other three remaining placegetters were decided on c/b and included Kay Caller/Alison Caller (runners up – 64 c/b), Meg Kulmar/Jen O’Neill (2nd runners up – 64 c/b) and Jennifer Fagan/Doolan (3rd runners up – 64 c/b).

Our NTP winners included: Yamba Medical Centre 3rd: Glen Czarnota; Yamba Florist, Debbie May 3rd (2nd shot): Lesley Love; Leonie May Millinery 9th (2nd shot): Noni Rixon; Yamba Fair Butchery 10th: Margaret Fishburn; The Shoe Boutique 12th: Denise Ginn; Clovelly Fashions, Maclean 12th (2nd shot): Lyn White and The Wobbly Chook 17th (2nd shot): Sue Wilson.

Balls were awarded to 66 c/b.

With inclement weather predicted, there is no doubt that players would have been hoping for fine weather and great play in the last two rounds which began with a two person Ambrose last Friday. A Foursomes format on the final and deciding round this Wednesday will double as the inaugural fundraiser in support of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. Ladies are being encouraged to wear white and or teal.

Last Wednesday’s nine-hole competition had 12 players in its single Stableford format. Congratulations to Carol Miller who played a fabulous round to win (21pts) ahead of Stephany Moreton (20pts). Stephany has been playing fabulous golf lately and everyone was thrilled to see her score a birdie on the 3rd NTP.

We are all feeling excited about Yamba ladies next major event, our ‘Funtober Day’, to be held on Wednesday October 13. The theme for the day is ‘Bright and Beautiful’ and ladies are encouraged to arrive at 8.30am in time for the random draw which will take place promptly at 9am. Play will commence with a shotgun start at 9.30am. There will be a sausage sizzle lunch, on-course drinks cart, prize for ‘Best Dressed’, giveaways for each participant as well as generous prizes and raffles.

Please continue to enter your names onto the sheet each week to participate in Wednesday games. Ladies are also reminded and encouraged to pre-order lunch before commencing play each Wednesday. A selection of freshly made sandwiches, wraps and salad bowls is available by completing the pre-order sheet which can be found in the Pro Shop.

Happy golfing ladies!
