MHS – School Swimming Carnival 2019

On Wednesday February 6 Maclean High School held a successful swimming carnival at Maclean Pool.

Well done to the many staff and students who dressed up in their house colours.

Congratulations to Morwenna Hogan who broke the 14 years girls’ 50metre breaststroke record in the time of 38.44. This swim broke a 10 year record by 0.87 seconds.

The other record that was broken on the day was the 14 Years girl’s 4 x 50 metre house relay. Morwenna Hogan, Kalani Ives, Sienna Gilbert and Yasmin Elabbasi from Kendall house swam 2m 14.14 seconds which broke the old record set in 2009 by 5.45 seconds.

Congratulations to Kendall, the 2019 Champion House with 555 points, 2nd Paterson 329 points followed by Lawson and Gordon.

A school carnival cannot be successful without the help of many people; special thanks to the parents and staff who helped with the distance events at 7.30am, Maclean High staff and the Maclean Pool staff who worked tirelessly feeding the masses.

Good luck to those students who will now represent Maclean High at the Northern Rivers Zone Swimming Championships to be held at Lismore on Tuesday February 26.
