Marine Rescue Iluka / Yamba

The first weekend of the new year has been an active time for members of Iluka / Yamba Marine Rescue with our annual Charity Golf Day organised by long standing member Jean Dengate and ably supported by Iluka Golf Club attracting many bowlers both local and from away.

Our rescue vessel I/Y 30 with numerous crew members aboard were actively involved assisting at the Yamba Ocean Beach swim, while across the river at the Iluka Markets members were busy providing hot snacks and cold drinks to locals and visitors as required.

Over the recent period our members have also been requested to assist disabled vessels ranging from small to a large vessel disabled some distance north of Yamba but safely bought into Yamba after a long tow.

As Marine Rescue provides a 24 hour coverage along the whole NSW coast, we strongly advise the boating public to avail themselves of this service, either through the local base on Ch 16 or the Marine Rescue App on your mobile. All we require is the vessel registration number, mobile phone number and number of people on board, as well as your estimated time of return or arrival.

To all those on the water, stay safe and remember “Life Jackets Save Lives”.
