A man has appeared in court after he was charged following the death of another man in the Clarence Valley.
Around 9:40am on June 24, emergency services were called to Phoenix Close in South Grafton, following reports of a dispute between neighbours and a physical altercation.
On arrival, police located a 50-year-old man who was unresponsive and suffering head injuries.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics but was unable to be revived.
Officers attached to the Coffs/Clarence Police District established a crime scene which was examined by specialist forensic police, before an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death commenced.
Following inquiries, a 64-year-old man was arrested at the scene and transported to Grafton Police Station where he was charged with manslaughter.
He was refused bail and appeared at Port Macquarie Bail Court on June 25.
