Major General addresses Chamber

At their monthly breakfast meeting last Wednesday, The Grafton Chamber of Commerce heard from Deputy Co-ordinator for National Bushfire Recovery Agency (NBRA) – Major General Andrew Hocking.

In moving forward after the bushfires, MG Hocking said that it was his role to support the community and listen to their needs and to co-ordinate the (recovery) efforts.

“This recovery will be year’s and in some cases decades – and we will be here for the long haul,” MG Hocking said.

“We’re moving now to clean things up quickly.

“Constantly seeing the scars of disaster, traumatises people more.

MG Hocking said that there are business grants available to businesses which have been impacted by bushfires, available from the National Bushfire Recovery Agency.
