Maclean women’s bowls

Last Tuesday saw one of our teams competing at Iluka in the final of the CRDWBA Championship Fours and some of our ladies went to watch and support our team.

After a great start they had the Yamba team down 18-0 but then Yamba pulled out all stops and on the 19th end the score was equal at 19-19, Maclean team finally got the lead and went on to win the game. Congratulations and well done to both teams.

Our Major/Minor Carnival is closed for nominations and is being played on Monday March 4.

Just a note to any players coming from Grafton or South Grafton on that day or for the District Triples, please be advised if you are going to come across the Lawrence ferry that only the small ferry is running and by all accounts there can be quite a delay, so if you intend coming that way please make allowance for the time delay.

Congratulations to Kerrie Hudson who competed in the qualifying rounds of Australian Indoor Singles Championships held on the weekend of February 16-18 at East Cessnock. After three very hard games she was successful in winning her section and now goes onto compete at the finals to be held at Tweed Heads on August 16-18, congratulations and well done Kerrie, the whole ladies club is behind you in your endeavours.

The entry sheet for our club State Singles Championships is on the board now and closes on Sunday March 3 and play commences on Sunday March 10, so get your names in now.

Due to many ladies cheering on our team at Iluka on Tuesday, we only had two games of social play. We also had two visitors Pru Harrington from Scone and Will Costello from Toombul in Qld.

This Tuesday the heat wasn’t quite so bad and we managed to play the 21ends.
