Maclean Vets Golf

We had an excellent field at Maclean last Monday for the April monthly medal event. It was a single Stableford played in beautiful sunny autumnal weather.

With the inscribed pen up for grabs the competition was pretty hot as this trophy is much sought after by all of our Vets. However only one can win and this month it happened to be Richard Parker’s turn. Richard came in with 38 points to take the honours narrowly in a c/b from Leigh Barrington.

Leigh had to settle for the runners up prize. In 3rd place and winner of the free game was John Hunter with 37 points.

Club balls went down to 35 points which meant Graham Cox, Cath Parker and John Porter – all with 36 points and Brian Williams, Mike McGowan, Greg Doolan and Graham Lloyd, all with 35 points – each took a ball home.
In line with the playing regulations (at the moment) there are no nearest the pins on offer, so bad luck to those who hit it pretty close on the par 3s.

We have decided to try playing the Vets each Monday from here on in. We’ll do this for a while and see how it goes. Prizes on these days may be reduced slightly to reflect the size of the field. Good fields will mean similar prizes to our regular days.

Our next game is on Monday April 20.
