Councillors have unanimously supported negotiating with Valley Pool Services (VPS), the current operator of the Maclean swimming pool, to extend its management and operation services until June 30, 2022.
The decision was taken in a confidential session at last week’s February 26 Clarence Valley Council (CVC) meeting, because the report to council “contains information that would, if disclosed, confer a commercial advantage on a person with whom the council is conducting (or proposes to conduct) business”.
The current contract, which commenced in July 2014, paid VPS $93,500 (GST inclusive) per annum for five years, with an annual CPI adjustment.
Councillors also decided that if an agreement between CVC and VPS is not reached that it would “terminate the current contract on July 31, 2019 and seek tenders to manage and operate the [pool] until to 30 June 2022”.
Further, councillors resolved to “consult with the operators of Yamba, Grafton and South Grafton pools, to align their current pool contracts to complete on June 30, 2022”.
