Maclean Pipe Band scoops the pool

Maclean Pipe Band travelled to Yandina on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday 14th May to compete in their pipe band competition. This event attracted the best bands in Brisbane and Southern Queensland and provided stiff competition for our local band. We entered the two competitions available to us in this event, the first being a Mini Band contest, comprising of four pipers and two snare drummers plus a bass drummer. In this event, we won the piping and the drumming which gave us first prize. The second event was the Grade 4 full band competition and again, I am pleased to say that we were successful in both the drumming and piping which gave us a clean sweep of the competition. This gives us great personal satisfaction to represent, not only the band, but also Maclean, the Scottish town in Australia. This success is not possible without the support of all our sponsors and supporters, without whom we would not have the means to fund our band. Our next competition is the Queensland State Championships in Ipswich on Saturday 4th June where we hope to achieve some success. Ian McLennan
