Saturdays event was a Medley Single Stableford. John Parkes, who normally doesn’t play on Saturdays was pleased he did, returning a solid winning score of 41 points, even after hitting out of bounds on the 18th. Brian Iveli came in runner-up with 39 points and third place went to the “effervescent” Richard Parker on 38 points. NTPs were taken by Phil McGuire on the 2nd at 3.64m, Nick Fuller from Grafton the 7th at 3.83m, Wendy King hit a great ball on the 11th to 1.4m and Rod Willis, from Ballina, the 17th at 2.00m. The pro-ball rundown went to 35 points. Visitors came from Ballina, Grafton and Woolgoolga. The best ladies score went to Chrissy Picton with 37 points. Graham Howard was a pitching wedge out from the green on the 18th hole, but during a practice swing he somehow managed to hit it backwards turning it into a 9 iron instead and costing a shot. Thursdays Medley Single Stableford saw some terrific scoring with Robbie Woods taking the top spot with an excellent round of 41 points. Sally Weeks was close behind for r/up with a great 40 points. NTPs went to Geoff Greenwood on the 2nd at 5.4m, John Phillips the 7th at 9.95m, Robbie Woods the 11th at 2.68m and Terry Adcock the 17th at 4.43m. Pro-balls went down to 34 on a c/b. Wednesday afternoons 9 hole Skins game saw Paul O’Halloran once again in the winners circle taking out 3 Skins to edge out John Ryan and Don Skaines who also carded 3 apiece. Don’s round included 2 four pointers and like Paul he’s been in very good form of late. Next Saturday, August 6 is the Stroke Monthly Medal and also the Handicap Match Play qualifying round. The club thanks Gregor Simpson for sponsoring the day. Sunday sees the return of the “Sunday Mix”. This is a mixed 4BBB event with a shotgun start at 8.30am. Cost is $20 and includes lunch.
