Six swimmers from the Clarence Valley represented the Maclean Manta Rays Swimming Club at the 2024-25 Speedo NSW Senior State Age Championships earlier this month.
Held at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre between December 6-12, the event attracted some of the best athletes from across the state.
Adding to the immense success they have enjoyed in the pool throughout the past 12 months, Jett Burke, Hayden Whyte, Caleb Daykin, Deja Little, Ian Burgess, and Chase Burke once again made a splash at national level.
Competing in eight events and swimming in four relays across the program, Jett achieved new PBs in all of his races.
He took home the bronze medal after placing third in the boys 16 years 100m backstroke, and also finished sixth in the boys 16 years 200m butterfly, seventh in the boys 16 years 200m backstroke, eighth in the boys 16 years 50m backstroke, and 10th in the boys 16 years 100m butterfly.
His outstanding success also enabled him to qualify for the Australian Age Championships, set to be held in April next year.
Chase finished nineth in the boys 14 years 200m butterfly, and nineth in the boys 14 years 1500m freestyle, achieving six new PBs, while Deja narrowly missed out on setting a new PB in the girls 12 years 50m freestyle.
Hayden also achieved five new PBs after swimming in seven races while equalling his PB in the boys 50m backstroke.
Ian set two new PBs and swam in four relays while Caleb achieved two new PBs competing in several men’s 18 years and over races and two relays.
Head Coach of the Maclean Manta Rays Swimming Club Ruth Everuss was extremely proud of the swimmers and congratulated them on their tremendous efforts in the pool.
