Maclean Lower Clarence Hospital Auxiliary

The Maclean Lower Clarence Hospital Auxiliary Yamba Golf Day on Sunday, March 17 was a successful day with 48 players. Chris Durrington has kindly included the golfing results in his report and we would like to congratulate the winning teams, the NTP winners and the score card winners. We would also like to thank the Yamba Golf Club for their assistance on the day and their donations. Other people who donated prizes were Denise Quick from Raine and Horne, John Wright, Trish Bowes and David Miles. The winners of the raffle were 1st Jill Lee; 2nd Pauline Alchin; 3rd Helen Haling. The winners of the Numbers Board were 1st Rita Nutt; 2nd Adam Bowes; and 3rd Shoey. Thank you to all the people who participated in this event as we raised over $1,500 which will go towards our goal of acquiring a new ultrasound machine for Maclean Hospital.

Guest speakers at our general members’ meeting on Monday March 18 were Dan Madden, the Clarence Health Services manager and Simon Fenn, who is in charge of the Maclean and Grafton Hospital Medical Imaging Departments. Dan Madden gave us data about how the Emergency Department attendance had risen by 4% and Bed Days by 7.8%. He also discussed the new helipad and how a Working Party with helicopter retrieval people has been formed to iron out any problems. Simon Fenn told the meeting about how ultrasounds are now used for everything and since 2014 there has been a growth of 28% in the use of ultrasounds just in Maclean alone.

President Sandra Bradbury welcomed two new members, Adele Lewis and Jill Ryan, to our organization. Last meeting we also welcomed Kath O’Keeffe and Lorri Brown. President Sandra also thanked the different members who had attended the Iluka and Yamba Ladies’ Golf Day Presentation; the Maclean Seniors Day; the Yamba Seniors Day; and the International Women’s Day. Members will also be attending the UHA Zone Day on Thursday 21 March at Ballina and the Grafton UHA Mothers Morning Tea in Wednesday 8 May.

However, our next big event is the Maclean Lower Clarence Hospital Auxiliary Mothers’ Day Morning Tea to be held at Maclean RSL on Friday May 10, beginning at 10am. Entry is only $10 and there will be lots of wonderful food, tombola prizes, spot raffle prize and the big raffle. So please save the date as we would love to see you there.
