The Maclean Lower Clarence Hospital Auxiliary held their Annual General Meeting on Monday July 15 with ninety members present. In her report, President Sandra Bradbury outlined all the fund raising activities undertaken in the past twelve months. She thanked all the individuals and organisations who have helped and reported that $85,000 has been raised so far for the ultrasound machine.
The treasurer reported that $58,590 has been spent on equipment for the hospital in the past twelve months and another $6480 worth of goods is on order.
Hospital general manager, Dan Madden, thanked the auxiliary for their support; saying that the staff are very appreciative of the equipment provided which makes other hospitals envious. He mentioned that the hospital next needs a CT machine.
Gwen Dowling has worked for the auxiliary for over twenty years and served as president and vic-president. Recently she has been a patron but announced she is resigning from that position because of health problems. She was presented with a beautiful bunch of flowers in appreciation of her years of service.
Our North Coast Regional Representative, Jennifer McKellar, announced that she has just been appointed to the position of State Treasurer. She informed the meeting that the next Zone Conference will be held at Bonalbo and the Annual Conference will be at Port Macquarie. She then presented badges and certificates in recognition of service to the auxiliary as follows. Badges for 10 years: Jackie Coxon, Debra Graham, Patricia Hurst, Cheryl Johnson, Dale Mackie, Judy McCudden, Michael Miller, Beth Moore, John Moore, Lionel Shaw, Rhonda Shaw, Barbara Wall.
Certificates for 15 years: Warren Apps, Norma Anyon-Smith, Maggie Combley, Jan Hawkins, Yvonne Hughes, Pam Smith. A certificate for 25 years service was presented to Beth Keen.
Jennifer McKellar took the chair for the elections with the following results. President – Sandra Bradbury; vice-presidents – Pauline Howard and Margaret Annand; secretary – Trish Bowes; assistant – Elaine Miller; treasurer – Rita Nutt; assistant – Kay Schubert; publicity – Maggie Combley. All were elected unopposed.
After everyone had enjoyed afternoon tea, the normal monthly meeting was held.
Thank you to Carolyn and family of the late Allan Cameron for their donation and letter in appreciation of “the excellent care and compassion shown” during the three weeks Allan spent in Maclean Hospital. Thank you also to Josie Priddle who has donated a beautifully decorated saw to be raffled.

Brushgrove Pub is hosting a trivia afternoon from 2pm until 6pm on Saturday July 27.
The auxiliary will have a stall at the Maclean Markets on Saturday August 10.
Maclean Golf Club is holding a Golf Day on Sunday August 18, an 18 Hole 4 person Ambrose with a shotgun start at 9am. Entry fee is $30 which includes lunch and lots of prizes and fun. Phone Paul King on 6645 2183 to book.
The next meeting will be on Monday August 19 at 2pm in the conference room of Community Health at Maclean District Hospital. New members are welcome.
