Every year the Maclean Lions Club host a family fun day at Brooms Head, on New Years Day. The event attracts young and old alike from the caravan park, as well as locals. The mornings activities were put back to an early start, due to this year’s king high tide.

Maclean Lions Club treasurer Tracey Smith said that they had a very successful Brooms Head fun day.

“There were a lot more people than we had anticipated,” said Tracey.

“We had to start very early due to a king high tide around 10.30am and it was a really fantastic day,” she said.

Tracey’s husband Clive said that because of the high tide the events were held up on the grass foreshore, instead of on the beach.

“There was a lot of community participation, and we hope that the kids at the caravan park had a wonderful time,” he said.
