Maclean late night shopping festive fun Friday

Maclean will be the centre of all things festive in the Clarence Valley this Friday with late night shopping, Santa, plus lots of Christmas fun for children and people of all ages.

Maclean Chamber of Commerce President Christine Tyler said following a highly successful event last December, Maclean Business Chamber, Maclean Lions and Vinnies Community Development program, are excited to bring the event to the Maclean CBD again in 2022.

“The purpose of the event is to bring our lower river Community together to support our CBD retail, café and local home-based businesses and have a great evening of Christmas fun together,” she said.

“It’s an evening for everyone to enjoy the company of others, the goodies for sale from our variety of local home-based business stalls, our Main Street retailers and the entertainment and music.

“We 100% do this for community and business benefit, there is no cost for taking part nor do we pay anyone to participate, all the costs are covered from our own budgets.

“The community need only be prepared to come along and celebrate our wonderful culture and support our River Street and home-based businesses in a fun environment.”

This year’s festivities will kick off from 5.30pm and run until 8pm on December 16.

Mrs Tyler said the Maclean Chamber of Commerce had received an exceptional amount of interest in this year’s event, with 21 shops opening and 12 stalls featuring homemade goodies scattered along the footpaths.

She said there will be plenty of activities to keep kids occupied while families enjoy an evening of Christmas culture, Maclean style.

“There will be a Kids Hub with fun activities on the lawn at Cakora Aesthetics,” she said.

“The Bushfriendz Kids Christmas themed activities at the Maclean Real Estate Office will provide fun for children of all ages.”

Following a Welcome to Country at 6pm, people can enjoy the Christmas Carol Choir and Maclean Pipe Band’s alternating performances at the Argyle Hotel, live music in the Maclean Hotel beer garden, Scottish dancing performances at Mitre 10 and the Rotary Ham Wheel in front of Westpac bank.

Each business and stall will have free raffle tickets to give away with a purchase to go into the draw to win one of three Visa gift cards valued at $300, $200 and $100.

Maclean Lions Club will be holding a sausage sizzle, selling raffle tickets, plus a selection of Christmas cakes and puddings will be for sale.

And it wouldn’t be a Christmas celebration without Santa.

“Santa will be there with gifts for the kids,” Mrs Tyler said.

“We have a special Santa photos offer where people can take their own photos and present them to Harvey Norman Maclean and get two free prints.”
