Upon receiving a letter written by a Lismore-based consultant orthopaedic surgeon, who says he has “been informed that the Northern NSW Area Local Health District (NNSWLHD) is planning to close the operating theatre at Maclean District Hospital after he election”, the Independent sought comment from the NNSWLHD.

“We can confirm there are no plans to close the Maclean District Hospital operating theatre,” said Lynne Weir, acting chief executive, Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD).
