There were fourteen members and five Legatees at the recent meeting of the Lower Clarence Laurel Club.
A number of members became involved in a discussion on the impending installation of the NBN service. It is hoped to have an expert in this field as guest speaker at next month’s meeting.
One of our members, Elizabeth Wallace, recently underwent heart surgery. A card has been sent to her and she is reported to be recovering well. Everyone was pleased to see Norma Pascoe, who has had serious health problems, well enough to attend the meeting.
Two of the Legatees were busy selling raffle tickets in aid of Legacy, which will be drawn at their golf day in Grafton on July 20.
The guest speaker, Vicki Gulaptis, gave an entertaining talk on the highlights of her life, also giving an outline of her husband Chris’s career as a politician.
Those who are going on the Canberra trip in September need to make their final payment to Riverland Travel on or before Friday July 5.
The raffle was won by Ruth Meppem.
The next meeting, on Monday July 15, will be the Annual General Meeting and all positions will be declared vacant.
