Lower Clarence Laurel Club

At the recent meeting of the Lower Clarence Laurel Club there were seventeen members and five Legatees present. Three new members, Lyn McQueen and Val Reilly from Palmers Island and Robyne Shea from Iluka, were warmly welcomed.

A thank you card was received from Norma Pascoe in response to the “Thinking of you” card sent to her from the club.

It was announced that this year’s Friendship Day will be held at Ballina RSL on Tuesday May 14. Morning tea will be at 10am and the cost is $30 which should be paid at the next meeting. Legacy will provide a bus to take members to Ballina.

It has been proposed to have a trip to Canberra, possibly to see Floriade and the War Memorial or other places suggested by members. Next month’s guest speaker is travel agent Zoe Eagleton and she will plan an itinerary.

The intended guest speaker was unable to attend the meeting so President Marie stepped in and described the ten day holiday that she and five other members recently enjoyed at Legacy House in Moss Vale. Every day they were taken out on a bus trip sight seeing and Elizabeth recalled the trip to Dirty Jane’s Emporium. The meals at night were beautiful and they had fun playing games or singing around the piano with Elizabeth tickling the ivories. The staff were very kind and helpful.

Marie handed out forms to members interested in organising another holiday.

The raffle was won by Maggie Combley.

The next meeting will be on Monday March 18.
