Lower Clarence Laurel Club

The recent meeting of the Lower Clarence Laurel Club was the last for this year and was attended by fourteen members and five Legatees.

As there was no public speaker, members took the opportunity to reminisce about the delights of our trip to Canberra last spring and the great care taken by Zoe and Alwyn from Riverland Travel who accompanied us.

Our thoughts are with member Elizabeth Wallace who has been in hospital for some time.

The raffle was won by Barbara Knight, Lyn McQueen and Val Riley.

The Legacy office in Grafton will be closed from December 20 until January 20 but if members need help they can leave a phone message or contact their Legatee.

The meeting closed with a roast dinner and dessert. Thank you to President Marie for the decorations and bags of chocolates.

The following week Legacy provided a bus to take members from Maclean and Iluka to Yamba Bowling Club for a Christmas lunch. After a delicious meal, lucky door prizes were distributed, the raffle was drawn and carols were sung. Each member was presented with a bag containig a beautiful calendar and cosmetic items.

The bus driver then advised that we should leave and hurry back to Iluka in case it became necessary to close the Lluka road because of the bushfires.

Thank you to Legacy for an enjoyable day. The next meeting will be on Monday February 17, 2020.
