Looking for volunteers – Big River RSL Day Club

The Big River RSL Day Club commenced operation in October in 2003 and has been caring and sharing in the Grafton district for the past 16 years. Elderly residents who are socially isolated or just looking to make friends need this service, however this service could be coming to an end unless we attract new volunteers.

As a consequence these vulnerable people will be without their Thursday get together which promotes their health and mental well-being. Having something to look forward to each week fosters a sense of belonging which basically is helping members to help themselves.

If you feel you could help out on Thursday each week it would be gratefully appreciated.

So please contact Bev Daly (Area Coordinator) on 0428 117 959.

The Big River RSL Day Club meets in the Joan Muir Community Centre, Turf Street in Grafton.

RSL Day Clubs have been active for over 40 years and are solely run by volunteers with no paid staff, one day per week between 10am and 2pm. The members pay a small fee for morning tea and lunch, quizzes, gentle exercises, outings and entertainment. Transport is provided to and from the venue and is open to both Veterans and the Community.

At present there are 60 clubs throughout NSW.
