Lion Robin Parker from the Maclean Club received recognition at the Lions Australia Convention held, recently in Geelong, Victoria.  International president, Gudrun Yngvadottir (Iceland) initiated “New Voices” awards during her year.    

New Voices?

New Voices is about creating a variety of conversations. It is about collaboration – getting men and women together to harness their combined potential. It is about putting the spotlight on women.

Describing New Voices at their introduction last year, president, Gudrun stated, “We need to make it known that Lions is about men and women.”Gudrun went on talk about engaging in conversation. How choosing to cross the invisible line from being a person to whom things happen, to a person who makes things happen. Engaging starts with finding your voice – literally. This is easy for some, but for many, speaking up is daunting. To lead you must be heard. You must have presence. You must put yourself out there. Hence New Voices – where it all comes from.
