Several local businesses have united to host fundraising events to assist Clarence Valley residents affected by the adverse wet weather which unleashed havoc upon the region last week.

TNT Towing and grooming salon You Love ‘m, We Scrub ‘m, held flood fundraising barbeques in South Grafton and Grafton over the weekend, and invited Clarence Valley residents to donate goods including bottled water, tinned pet food, horse feed and hay bales, cleaning products and non-perishable food items to those in need.

Damian Rose from TNT Towing said he was overwhelmed by the community support and said many people came forward to offer financial donations to assist flood affected residents as well.

“I was stoked, it was amazing to see so many people support the first event on Saturday,” he said.

“It was flat out.

“I reckon we had in excess of 500 turn up, and many of them came simply to give money in support of people in need.

“Lots of people who stopped by the barbeque donated their change, and that was great.

“We’ve got to do what we can to help our local community.”

A large crowd of supporters also came forward to offer donations on Sunday when You Love ‘m, We Scrub ‘m hosted a second fundraising event alongside their Queen Street premises.

Anytime Fitness in South Grafton, will host a third fundraising event on Wednesday, March 9, between 12-6pm.

All proceeds raised from the three events will go directly to Clarence Valley residents who have been adversely affected by recent flooding.
