Yamba Lions Club recently donated a new ‘state of the art’ wheelchair to a long standing member, Lion Amanda Bennett, as she was still using her original one she received when she was very young and it was becoming difficult to use.
Husband Lion Peter had been trying to secure her a new one through NDIS which better suited her purposes, but was having lots of problems. Lions Peter and Amanda are excellent workers for the Club and she deserved to have a new one and in turn, this also helped Peter. Last year, Peter was awarded the highest award in Lions which was the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for his many years to Lionism.
Yamba Lions Club has been exceptionally busy as usual during the Christmas holidays. The week begins with Monday bingo at 10am and Tuesday bingo commencing 7pm at the Bowlo Sports & Leisure Yamba. Thursday is cooking pancakes at the Blue Dolphin for the holiday makers and Friday night we run the monster raffles. The excitement of the visitors is music to the ears when they win a prize.
The usual monthly markets at Ford Park keep members on their toes and once again, they worked at the Rotary Club’s Street Market on January 1.
Meetings commenced with a Board meeting on January 8 and the next is on February 5, followed by members’ meeting February 14.
Many thanks to all members who went over and above their call of duty to make sure all ran smoothly.
The Club would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy 2019 and look forward to working with the community once again during the year.
