Light Up the Darkness (LUD), a group of dedicated volunteers, was established in 2012 to raise awareness of the lack of mental health support programs in the Lower Clarence and lobby for their implementation.
Another important role undertaken by LUD was to promote mental health services that were actually available to the community. LUD facilitated community forums which included many support agencies, community organisations and the local community. This action was pivotal to gaining extra services in the Lower Clarence. Having pooled their efforts for many years the LUD team has seen the results of their hard work come to fruition and the baton being picked up by Our Healthy Clarence.
LUD committee member, Lyn Watson said “We support Our Healthy Clarence because the values and goals align directly with the Light Up the Darkness charter. With this in mind, the group is happy to donate the legacy of our fundraising to them.”
