LAWRENCE RODEO TUESDAY, 27 DECEMBER 2016

cvi-images   The Lawrence Twilight Rodeo at the Maclean Showground, is raring to go and organisers say it will be even bigger and better than before. This year, spectators are in for a treat with an even bigger ‘big screen’ to capture all the live action replays, of all the thrills and spills. An extra bar will be operating this year to cater for the thirsty along with a myriad of food outlets and vendors serving hot chips, kebabs, pizza and coffee to name but a few. Along with the action packed rodeo events, there will be plenty to keep the youngsters entertained outside the arena. There will be stock whips cracking, a jumping castle, mini jeeps, chair-o-plane rides, pony rides and a mechanical bull. The inaugural ‘King of the River’ event last year, was a huge crowd pleaser, when Clarence Valley football teams battled it out on the back of a steer, for the winning ride. South Grafton Rebels player Xavier Sullivan brought the house down, when his steer refused to budge, leaving the frustrated player a little embarrassed. This year Grafton Ghosts new captain/coach Danny Wicks, will ‘steer’ his team in a different direction, as they once again take on the challenge. Former Ghosts captain Ben McLennan was last year’s ‘King of the River’ winner and will be competing once again this year, in an attempt to retain his title. All eyes however, will be fixed on the serious riders as they take on the challenge of the super bulls.
