Lawrence Fishing Club March outing

On the weekend of March 2-3, Lawrence Fishing Club held our monthly competition. There were some good catches including luderick, bream, flathead and mangrove jack. Most fish came from the lower reaches of the river with a total of over 15kg fish weighed in.

Allan Cannon continued his early season form by again winning the men’s monthly competition. Ninihi Wilson was the ladies winner. The star of her catch was a nice mangrove jack. It was the second one that she had hooked after the first had won the battle.

Two of the keenest fishers in the club are Flynn and Milla Tory. They each won their respective junior category. Milla just pipped her brother for the heaviest total catch – bragging rights to the girls.

Secret weight went to Ashley Cannon and Steve King scooped the member’s draw pool.

Next outing will be held on April 5 & 6 with weigh in at the usual time at our generous sponsors, the Lawrence Tavern.

The next general meeting will be held in the Lawrence Park at 11am on March 16. Following the meeting there will be a barbeque for members.
