Lawrence croquet – rain stops and play recommences

Croquet recommenced on Thursday after a lengthy period of non-play due to the wet weather conditions impacting on the court condition.

Seven players participated on the courts in very pleasant weather conditions, enjoying the extensive water views which were still evident overlooking the golf course.

Not only was the game keenly played, but it was also an opportunity to catch up with each other as to what had been happening during the break.

Karen and Yvonne displayed exceptional play by achieving jump shots, Karen two and Yvonne, one. Congratulation to you both, a very good effort after such a lengthy hiatus in play. Jump shots are a strategy we would all like to achieve when an opposition player’s ball is blocking the hoop for which you are aiming and the only way through is to “jump” your ball over theirs and through the hoop – easy to say, but not so easy to achieve!

Edna and Pam each achieved a golden hoop.  Well done ladies, glad to see you are keeping up your well- honed skills.

There was no play on Tuesday April 6 nor on Thursday April 8 due to the rain experienced last week impacting on the playing condition of the courts. Look forward to seeing all players and any new members who would like to join us Tuesday April 13.
