Lawrence – Brushgrove golf challenge

We enjoyed a wonderful day at Lawrence last Sunday playing in the inaugural Lawrence –Brushgrove Challenge match.

Last year members from both clubs discussed the idea of the challenge that became a reality last Sunday and there was a very good roll-up for this inaugural event. Perfect weather, perfect course conditions and great camaraderie. Not to mention the 3-course lunch provided by the lovely Lawrence ladies. I am pleased to announce that Brushgrove won the day winning with a team score of 33 against Lawrence’s 40. Individual winner was Tom Mammen (Lawrence) with a net 30 from Keith Miller (Brushgrove) on nett 33. Peter Jones (Brushgrove) took out least putts with 12 and NTP on the 5th. Both clubs are looking forward to next year’s challenge. There were also many other novelty prizes, a luck door prize won by Barry Moore (Lawrence) and a raffle won by Elaine Heynes (Lawrence).

Each club also held their normal comps in parallel with the challenge, and here are the results for Brushy; Winner with a nett 33 was Keith Miller from Peter Jones on 34. 3rd place to Wazza (37) and 4th to Graeme Reti (39). NTP and least putts to Peter Jones. Drive and pitch to Wazza and longest drive to Colleen Ortlipp.

Our next game will be the Casual Cup at Maclean on July 4, tee-off at 9am. Email with full details out soon. Don’t forget to support your club by attending the raffles at Brushy pub, or at least buying raffle tickets.
